We're ARTISTS!

WHAT WE LEARN FROM ARTS

1. Creativity - we are able to think on our feet, approach tasks from different perspectives and think ‘outside of the box’.

2. Confidence - we practice stepping out of our comfort zone and allows us to make mistakes and learn from them.

3. Problem Solving - our artistic creations are born through the solving of problems.

4. Perseverance - essential to achieving success.

5. Focus - the ability to focus is a key skill developed through ensemble work and help us in other aspects of our lives.

6. Non-Verbal Communication - through our experiences in theater and music/dance education, we learn to breakdown the mechanics of body language.

7. Receiving and Giving Constructive Feedback - we discover that feedback is part of learning and it is not something to be offended by or to be taken personally. It is something helpful.

8. Collaboration - we practice working together, sharing responsibility, and compromising with others to accomplish a common goal.

9. Dedication - we practice developing healthy work habits of being on time, respecting the contributions of others, and putting effort into the things we do.

10. Accountability -through the arts, we also learn that it is important to admit that we can make a mistake and take responsibility for it. Because mistakes are a regular part of the process of learning in the arts, we begin to see that mistakes happen. We acknowledge them, learn from them and move on.
